Professor R K Baxi is a full-time professor in department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Medical College, Baroda from 2008 till date

Being an Adolescent Pediatrician, he is involved in giving talks on the topics of adolescent health and their problems, organized from time to time by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics.

Recently trained and identified as National Ambassador for Adolescent Pediatrics under the Presidential plan of Indian Academy of Pediatrics for “Mission Kishore Uday” he is actively involved in counselling adolescents regarding their vide range of issues.

He has been the Zonal Operational Research Chairman till September 2013

He has undergone mentorship training for 3 weeks at school of Medicine, USF (short term training under AITRIP, Fogarty).

He is an NIH grantee, having completed “Formative study on prevention needs of PLWHA in Gujarat” in collaboration with University of North Carolina (March2010).

He has worked as Lead Investigator in the research on

  • "Formative study of HIV prevention needs of HIV-infected persons in Gujarat, India" (ICMR HIV/INDO-US/29/2007- ECD- II, NIH 2007)
  • "Cost analysis of RCH Services in Primary Health Care in Tribal and Rural Areas of Vadodara, India." (Government of Gujarat, India 2004-2005),
  • "Health Seeking Behaviour and Perceptions in Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) Patients Attending Hospital" (Population Council December 1999 India) and
  • "Promotion of vasectomy by training the providers and community education"(ICMR 1997-2001) and
  • Confidential enquiry into maternal deaths (2013-15) (NHM, Government of Gujarat)


He has worked as Co-investigator in the research on “Users’ and Providers’ Perspectives on Inject able Contraceptives in Vadodara, India; A multicentre Study” (UNFPA 2003) and “Adolescent Health Care-Needs Assessment and Establishing Adolescent Clinic- A WHO multi-centric study” (WHO 2002- 2003).
